On February 25, I started an experiment on my second profile: Comment and subscribe to 10 newsletters per day Post a note every weekday The goal was to see if anybody would subscribe to my second newsletter, Letters With My Father. Well, the results have been insane. Here’s the data:
NOTES is IT!!! I've had 2 mega viral ones in a row now. The first with 900+ and currently have one crossing over 3000 likes. I've gained 350+ subscribers in the last 30 days because of this lol. It's NUTS! But time will tell if all these new subs appreciate my content or if they just signed up to the popular note lady.
Thank you for a great advice. I’ve heard that Notes is the fastest way to grow on Substack, but this is not the case for me. It might have something to do with the fact that I show up irregularly barely ever more than once a week 😂 I like the clear action steps you listed, so I’m in for your challenge. Upgrading to paid and let’s see what happens. Fingers crossed 🤞
Tom you have inspired me. I was already commenting now doing it on a bigger scale.
I will let you know if I grow.
I have also being doing a notes experiment as I think what I post on notes as a relatively new publication is seen by virtually no one. So have been casting lots of different content out on notes just to see if any of it ever gets a reaction …
Super helpful - I'm just starting my Substack experiment. After spending time setting up the foundation, I'm now onto the connecting part. It is fun! I'm also planning to write a book this year and use some of my Substack content for the book - so I'll definitely be following along here!
Well, I'm glad it works that way for you. But for someone like me trying to grow on many platforms, building my brand and still schooling. It looks like a lot of commitment and there is so much time constraint.
Looks like I'm going to need to get over my fear of writing comments...
What this advice amounts to is "give a little to get a little." It sounds so obvious ... and I hadn't even considered it. Thank you.

I still have my training wheels on and am trying to find my voice... but I'm following!

You just got one more subscriber. 😁
