In January I started a Substack publication called
.After my Dad and I shouted it out to our friends/family, we ended up with 100 subscribers.
Then crickets. Our growth stagnated for a month.
I desperately wanted to grow that newsletter to 1,000 subscribers, so I hatched a plan.
On February 25, I decided to comment on and subscribe to 10 newsletters per day. Guess what? People actually subscribed back to me.
In one month:
I commented on 185 newsletters
52 of those people subscribed to my second newsletter
139 people followed me
My newsletter grew by 307 subscribers
14 publications started recommending my newsletter.
After that proof of concept, I started teaching other people my process.
Do Your Own 7-Day Commenting Challenge
For your viewing convenience, I’ve uploaded all five lessons of my 50 In 7 Challenge to Substack. They’re only available for paid subscribers.
This is a short mini-course of roughly 35 minutes that teaches you my whole process, complete with a google sheet template and workflow designed to turn complete strangers into your biggest fans.
Simply commenting on 10 posts per day is not enough. There’s a workflow I’ve developed over months of trial and error that will help you secure new subscribers at a higher rate than just going about it on your own.

Student Successes
In March and April, I hosted my ‘50 In 7’ Challenge for paid subscribers.
We had some great results!
One person wrote they got 25 new “followers” from doing a “light” version of the challenge where they only commented on 5 posts per day.
Another person got 6 subscribers in the first day!
Another got a paid subscriber pretty much immediately!!
If you are starting from absolute scratch on Substack (or near-scratch), this challenge WILL help you get new subscribers. That’s an absolute guarantee.
You’re going to stop feeling:
Like you’re publishing into the void
Like nobody is seeing your work
Like you’re just not a good enough writer
Like you’ll NEVER succeed at this
Growing a following online is more science than art, and I’ve been perfecting this science for the last 7 years online, growing a following of 10,000+ on 7 different platforms.
Let me help you. It’s just $7 per month or ($70 per year) to get access to these lessons.

Commenting to get some subscribers
I’ve also experienced that this works, but what are your thoughts around the longevity of subscribers obtained in this you scratch my back, I scratch your back kinda way? I.e. Are they true fans and are you experiencing sustained engagement, open rates, etc?
